Rah is a prize-winning X-Ray, Surgical and Installation Artist and practising Diagnostic Radiographer
Rah uses her art to challenge fear, exploring perception through the quiet lens of monochrome.
From iodine enhanced x-rayed botanicals to neurosurgical dexterity, Rah’s work is unusual and compelling. In floral pieces Rah strips away the external attractive vibrancy and finery to reveal the inner workings and peaceful beauty within.
She invites viewers to face the grey areas inside themselves, making friends with the past and finding beauty there. Surgical works take the viewer into the operating theatre during surgery, connecting with the hands that heal.
How did Rah get into this unusual and compelling work?
It’s a combination of my professional activities, interests, motivations and life experiences: this is how that all comes out, it’s the story of a typical Multipod really.
An endless curiosity about people, connections, the why and how. My Dad was a traditional artist so I grew up observing. Add familial neurodiversity, trauma and serial bereavement. Careers in Therapy, Teaching, coaching and a mainstay of Diagnostic Radiography. And along the way, a series of incredible supporters who saw (and see) in me what I couldn’t see in myself.
